Alive & Kicking was founded in 2004 by Jim Cogan OBE. Jim taught for 30 years at Westminster School in London. An enduring philanthropist he set up SPW in 1982, Alive & Kicking in 2004, and The Good Earth Trust in 2007. Jim died on flight back from Kenya in September 2007.

Headmaster of Westminster School in his professional career Tristram now sits on various school boards and leads Alive & Kicking's fundraising.
Director: Will Prochaska:
Will studied a Masters in International Development at London's School of Oriental and African Studies before starting with Alive & Kicking in 2007.
Managing Director of Alive & Kicking Kenya: Joel Kinuthia:
One of A&K's first recruits, Joel has completed an MBA at the United States International University during his time at A&K.
Managing Director of Alive & Kicking Zambia: Chad Conaty:
Chad is from Washington DC and completed an MBA with an emphasis on public administration before starting at Alive & Kicking.
