Alive & Kicking is a UK registered charity that makes cheap, tough, repairable footballs, netballs and volleyballs using African skills and African leather. Each carries a message about HIV/AIDS, malaria or TB. We employ over 150 Stitchers across three countries and have produced over 200,000 balls which have been donated to children across Africa. Holman Fenwick Willan Charity Football Tournament raised £1,950 for A&KOn June 20th, at the Powerleage centre near Liverpool Street, a five aside football tournament organised by Dinesh Nathan (solicitor) and Menelaus Kouzoupis (trainee solicitor) at international law firm Holman Fenwick Willan, Kicked Off. The teams were made up of players from various companies, each raising money for a different charity. The whole event had an Alive and Kicking theme to it, and two Holman Fenwick Willan teams were playing in our honour. A great night was had by all and an amazing £5,390 was raised for charity, including £1,950 for Alive and Kicking, as you can see on the presentation cheque being held by Dinesh, Alistair Mackie, and Menalaus. Alive and Kicking is partnering with the Great Football Giveaway to donate 3,000 balls to children in poor communities in Zambia in October 2008. The project will be run by Rob Kinder, Sam Trusty and Jamie Whitcroft, in conjunction with the Great Football Giveaway and Alive and Kicking Zambia.
